Abstract:
Taking into account the constant changes and the fast-paced growth of cities, in which
social, technological and economic developments are motivated by globalization, the
need to reflect on how such elements happen from the perspective of Participatory
Design have been identified in order to allow a consideration on the possibility of
generating reflections about the importance of collective thinking and its value in
relation to the ability to act up citizenship. Thus, the present work has aimed to verify
how participatory processes work in a virtual environment, having the Parque da
Criança, located in the city of Campina Grande-PB, as an object of study. For the
methodological procedures adopted, bibliographic surveys and case studies were
carried out supported by the card sorting tool, used to understand the mental pattern
of people when performing groupings and understanding how they interpret and
categorize information. As a result, it was observed that the use of participatory
methodologies adapted to the virtual environment can positively influence perceptions
about public space, so that design and technology together are able to arouse the
feeling of belonging and conviviality, in addition to highlight the importance of
exercising citizens' rights and duties. This way, design guidelines have been identified
so that they can help the designer work in relation to the public space.
