O rebatimento do conservadorismo no Serviço Social: um debate mais que necessário.

Abstract

The main focus of this work is to investigate the presence of traditional aspects in the image of Brazilian Social Work. To achieve this purpose, we used the technique of bibliographical research and counted on the incorporation of Marx's critical and dialectical method for providing the necessary critical contribution to the reflections and enabling the unveiling of reality and its socio-historical determinants. We aimed to analyze the strategic direction adopted by the profession in its ethical-political project conquered from the 1990s and materialized through the Law that regulates the profession (8.662/93), the Code of Professional Ethics of 1993 and the Curriculum Guidelines of the ABEPSS, from 1996. We also try to deal with the context of the crisis of capitalism that caused challenges for the profession that has advanced so much in recent years and we found that one of the greatest challenges present today is the influence of postmodernity that acts as a way to rekindle conservatism and, consequently, triggering a professional practice marked by the persistence of aspects considered traditional in the history of Brazilian Social Work.
