Résumé:
The concept refers to the use of technology in the home environment that integrate
electricity, electronics , IT and telecommunications , seeking as a result improve the
quality of life for its residents through aspects such as comfort, economy , prevention of
accidents and equipment failures , and also safety users ( FERREIRA , 2010) -
According to the IBGE , only 22 , 6 % of people aged 60 or older reported not owning
Almost half ( 48 , 9 % ) of the elderly suffered from more than one chronic disease and
in the subgroup aged 75 years or older, the proportion reached more than half ( 54 , 0 %
) - Diseases such as back pain ( or back ) and arthritis or rheumatism , also appear quite
frequently among persons 60 years or older : . 35 , 24 and 1 % , 2 % , respectively (
IBGE , 2010) - in view of the increasing number of elderly in relation to total
population , creating media that can reduce the impacts that aging brings to people ,
should be a concern of researchers from various fields . The overall objective was to
conduct a study in the area of home automation in order to analyze applications that can
facilitate the everyday life of older people . At the end of this paper , it is considered
that this study answers to the central question of how compound can be a home
automation system that facilitates everyday life and bring benefits in quality of life of
older people in addition to being in a delicate phase of life where the limitations of
movement and there is frequent occurrence of diseases , does not yet have family
members who can provide the care they need , and only the service staff and volunteers
of the shelter , so the implementation and use of these sensors is an alternative that
enables them autonomy as well as better security. Besides the social contribution of this
proposal , as it sees the possibility of providing greater autonomy and make life easier
for residents of a shelter for the elderly , this study contributes to academic papers focused on the area that shows great lack of bibliography , which is a of the main
difficulties encountered in studies of home automation.
