Resumen:
The need for innovation and lack of discovery of new drugs for diseases with absence of
proper treatment combined with the bent promoted by industrial competitiveness, composes
the main reason for the sharp financial investments by industries, featuring regular event in
recent years. The synthetic chalcones shows a rather promising strategy for alternative
treatment methods for various diseases, since they provide a range of biological activities that
have already been exploited by several research groups all over the world. This review aims
the measurement of relevant importance afforded by the characteristic of biological effects of
chalcones, also featuring later techniques already established that enable the synthesis of
chalcones, both conventional and new techniques, that promotes the optimization process.
The most commonly used synthetic strategy for the construction of chalcone core arise from
Claisen - Schmidt reactions between aryl ketones and benzaldehyde derivatives, however the
adoption of ultrasonic irradiation technique and microwave, and the development of new
catalysts, increased the reaction proceeds. Indeed, chalcones are molecules of high industrial
potential, presenting relatively simple synthesis and handling, widely described in the
literature . The optimization of synthesis, shows better yields of products, and incorporate
techniques that reduce production costs and consequently a high profits.
