Resumen:
The optimization process seeks to achieve the best result following the necessary
restrictions, in order to obtain a high quality and low cost, consisting of a valuable tool
for the construction of structural projects. Considering this fact, this work sought to
develop a spreadsheet that would enable the optimized design of a simply supported
beam, taking into account a uniformly distributed load from permanent and accidental
loads, for type I rolled and welded profiles. through Excel's Solver function, through
calculation constraints that will change its geometric properties, seeking to find the
smallest possible area for various load requests and thus compare the optimized
profiles with the prefabricated profiles by Gerdau and by NBR 5884. Thus, it was found
that the W profile would be the best option among the optimized profiles and the VS
profile the best option among the prefabricated ones.
