The use of lattice slabs has grown exponentially due to their structural efficiency and their swift and economical construction process. However, the designing of it’s system depends on many variables, what makes the quality of the solution strictly dependent on the designer's experience. In this context, this study aims to present an optimization method using Excel's tool Solver for the design process of latticed slabs formed by prefabricated joists in order to minimize material costs. The design variables adopted are: types of infill and lattice; concrete screed height; characteristic compressive strength of concrete; and diameter of additional rebars. The proposed methodology, as well as the results obtained, can be used to subsidize structural projects with a lower cost of materials, respecting the restrictions imposed by the NBR 6118:2014 and NBR 14589-1:2016 standards.
