Resumo:
The treatment efficiency of black liquor was investigated as a function of residence time, using mainly reators of aerated units : aerated lagoon and the activated sludge system. For this two bend scale treatment systems were construetetí and operated with a feed of equalized black liquor from CONPEL. These s'ystems exibited BOB removal efficiencies of 94 (System 1) and 96 (System 2) percent. Residual BOD of the treated black liquor were 67 and 47 - mg/1 a Systems 1 and 2 respectively. Several configurations of biological treatment systems for black liquor are presented, making if possible
for CONPEL to choose the most economical treatment system as a function if its effluent flow rate, the residual black liquor BOD and principally the flow rate of the recieving
water body, in this case the Gramame river.
