Abstract

Services quality evaluation of pavements built on a laterite soil basis is an important source of data to the development of building techniques and specifications of highway construction, and helps to cheek their structural and functional status. Pavement manegement, a set of activities associated with planning, project, construction, maintenance, evaluation and research on pavements, aims at optimizing the application of resources and setting programs in order to offer comfort and safety durirtg highway traveis. The utilization of Geographic Information System is a lechnological advancement involving lhe creation and handling of a database as na essencial tool used in different leveis of Pavement Management. This work has the objective to supply a database with information linked to the Geographical Information System. As a result, thematic maps of sections of highways made with lateritlc soils in Paraíba state, were generated for management information purposes, containing data on their structural and functional conditions.
