Abstract:
A system is worked out for selecting better irrigation methods as regarded to the technical viewpoint, considering informations on the crop, soil, water, and quality of laborers to
be used on the irrigating process. Indexes for expressing the fitness of Irrigating method to factors like plant density, crop susceptibility to deseases, soil slope, soil infiltration
rate, water quality, and hand labor qualifications are developed. The system is documented in order to provide the user with hints for its execution as well as explanations on the procedure for selecting the irrigating methods. There are options for analyzing simulated irrigating situations, which are useful for training students and technicians. Four irrigating methods are analyzed: sprinkler, border, trickle, and furrow. The system is implemented in the PASCAL programing language.
