Résumé:
The Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronicle inflammatory disease, characterized by joint
involvement, in a process that frequently results in disabling deformities. This research aimed
to evaluate the quality of life in patients diagnosed with RA using the Medical Outcomes Study
36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) as well as through the association of Health Related
Quality of Life (HRQoL) of these patients with the disease activity index (DAS 28).It was a
cross-sectional study of pacients already diagnosed with RA and followed by specialized clinic
at Hospital Universitário Alcides Carneiro (HUAC) using as instrument the SF-36 generic
questionnaire. The data statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS software. It was
considered significant association when p<0,05. It was detected that the mean for the domain
Physical functioning was 38,83, Role limitation 24,17, Bodily pain 39,80, General health
45,47, Vitality 56,83, Social functioning 59,55,Role emotional 55,47 and Mental health 60,53.
In the correlation with DAS28, it was found that the domains that showed significance were
Physical functioning and bodily pain. In conclusion, it was identified the worst means and
found greater commitment of the HRQoL in the domains of physical component, once RA
have physical disability features. It was also possible to demonstrate that the disease activity
index interferes only in Physical functioning and Bodily pain domains.
