Resumo:
Since the creation of the Unique Health System (UHS), by the approval of the Law
8080/90, the Health Ministry, and also the majority of public Brazilian organizations and
the international medicine journals, doesn’t agree about how the citizen who uses the
UHS must be referred. We searched to determinate the most receptive cognomen, into
the hypothesis that the appropriated denomination improves the treatment in UHS,
optimizing the evolution of the health-sick process. Methods: We applied questionnaires
to random people, into hospitals and public places evaluating the most used terms, e.g.
patient, sickly, client and user. Results: We determinate that the term patient, is the most
receptive one, and most coherent with the practice of health. We got that the relationship
medical-patient contributes directly in the evolution of the citizen disease. We noted that
the delay in the reception is the main cause of dissatisfaction with the UHS. Our results
indicate the divergence and incongruence of the literature, planning standardization in
the method of denomination. Conclusion: the analyses of the most receptive surname for
the citizen leads to the creation of a most effective link between them and the health
professionals, leading the healthiest evolution of the disease-health process.
