Resumo:
Fieldwork is a teaching tool that has been widely used by elementary school geography
teachers in intention to link theory and practice, but it has been noticed that these jobs are
done often in an unplanned way transforming activity tours, tours and even lectures, running
away from the mold of a research work itself, where students can be part of the process of
perception and analysis of the phenomena that have been proposed for the study. In view of
this it is that it aims to discuss and evaluate the effectiveness of fieldwork in Geography
discipline in the early years of elementary school, analyzing how teachers have used this
instrument, punctuating the shortcomings of the process. The objective of this study is to
perform an analysis of the importance of field work in the teaching of geography in the
second stage of primary school, discussing the effectiveness of this teaching tool to streamline
Geography lessons and implement the relationship between theory and practice, and expand
discussions regarding the possible shortcomings in the teaching and learning resulting from
the absence of a plan of activities. For the research a literature survey was conducted from
reading and BOOK REPORT texts in books, articles, journals, electronic journals, and other
media that supported the theme. As a result of the work it was noticed how the process of
teaching and learning become more dynamic and efficient when they leave the classroom and
proposes a field study. It was concluded, therefore, that the field work, as an educational
resource and activity to facilitate learning, need to be planned according to clear pedagogical
proposal. When performing field work, it is essential to analyze scale environments, for
starting a local study (enabled by the field activities), the perception of more distant contexts
occurs through most significant contexts, ie, the focus for local / global relationship points to
the need for methods of environmental studies and field work.
