Resumen:
Drying ls one of the more utilized operations for
condicionment of agricultural products with storage purpose.
In order to obtain good quality and produtuvity conditions, it
is necessary to know the parameters influence the operations
mechanisms. On the way to get especific informations about the
drying operation is by means of the mathematical simulation,
with low cost as well as reduced time process in comparison
with mathematical metnods. The objective of the present work
was to develope a simulation project for the drying of
"Carioca" beans in cross-flow, involving mathematical models,
definitiona of parameters and numerical methods. To obtain a
number of data and to evaluate the performance of the
simulations project it was to make a set of experimental in
tests a pilot scale conveyor drier. Some operations conditions
like residence time, thickness layer of beans and the
temperature were studied. From these experimental tests were
obtain parameters for the Simulator as well the constante for
the thin layer equations of the model. The simulation project
proposed was considered satisfatory when compared with the
experimental results. But it' is necessary to make some
adjustment in order to improve its performance.
