Resumo:
The concern with the preservation of the environment, for current and future generations, has been widely debated and discussed, both in academia and in the business environment, as well as within public institutions, due to the excessive growth of environmental degradation that results from of actions related to consumption patterns and ways of disposing of society in general. In the case of public institutions, including Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), the generation and accumulation of unserviceable goods causes several negative impacts on the environment that need to be studied. In this context, the present study aims to analyze the possibilities to enable the disposal of unserviceable movable assets within the UFCG headquarters Campus. The research used the inductive method and is characterized as a qualitative, applied and descriptive research, with a case study being carried out in the Central Warehouse and General Heritage sectors of the Headquarters Campus of the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG). Field and documentary research were the procedural methods chosen for data collection. The research results reveal several difficulties faced in the asset management of the investigated institution, especially with regard to unserviceable movable assets, allowing to verify that the procedures adopted are not systematic and do not meet the legal and sustainability criteria. From the study carried out in the situational analysis and with the support of the theory studied, as well as considering the legal criteria, it was possible to propose actions for the implementation of circular and sustainable strategies that have the potential to promote circularity and sustainability in asset management and enable the undoing of movable assets in a sustainable manner, taking into account the economic, environmental and social dimensions of sustainability, without disregarding the legal aspects that govern the topic.
