Abstract:
The present monograph approaches some of the different languages that can be used in the teaching of Geography, because as we know from the context of the current teaching system of Geography and other disciplines, it is of fundamental importance that educators approach other methodologies, not persisting only in traditional teaching techniques such as memorization that cause disinterest and lack of stimulation of students by discipline. To this end, among the educational resources conducive to educational development in geography, cartoons are one of the present alternatives, addressing recent themes and daily life in a critical and humorous way. Thus, the general objective of this research is to analyze the use of cartoons and draws in the teaching of Geography through the bibliographical survey of works done by authors that talk about the pertinent theme such as: Cavalcante (2010), Silva (2010). It is noticed that the cartoons and comic strip are a favorable element to the teaching of Geography, because through their humorous characteristics these textual genres when used in class appropriately have the capacity to arouse interest, stimulate reading and critical sense from the students. But even though it is easy to access and low cost, the use of cartoon and comic strip is still a resource not explored in the teaching of Geography and still little used in didactic means, reflecting in the few scientific works found on the subject, and in its majority are recent. What turns out to be a negative point since the use of the methodological feature cartoons and comics has enormous potential and its use in the classroom can be a practice capable of collaborating with the student's formation, thus transforming him into a citizen aware of its role in the world and the society in which it lives.
