Resumen:
This monograph seeks to analyze how young peasant women deal with their bodies and sexuality based on reports of their experiences in the family sphere and in sociability spaces. Observing the influences of Christianity in the socio-historical construction that shape, through education, sexual behavior, we note ways in which patriarchal and capitalist molds control bodies by sustaining a standard of beauty. The research had the participation of women from seven rural communities in the municipality of São Bento do Una, Pernambuco, located in the southern agreste. It starts from the principle that body and sexuality, as well as gender, are cultural constructions (BUTLER, 2002); (RUBIN, 2019). Qualitative methodology was used and 10 young people were interviewed through semi-structured interviews and focus groups. It was found that young women have a relationship of insecurity with their bodies because they do not fit the standards, while sexuality is not an issue addressed by families.
