Resumo:
Domestic violence against women in Brazil is an alarming phenomenon. Violence rates, especially femicide, have grown dramatically in recent years. Every day we come across reports that inform us about the victims and the Brazilian reality. Thus, the interest to research on this theme arose and, for that, a descriptive research was carried out, with a qualitative approach, based on bibliographic research on the subject in question, using the method proposed by Bardin (1989). In this way, five major referenced books were analyzed seeking to analyze the theoretical path that the phenomenon of domestic violence has played in the last 40 years. The analyzed works were The Power of the Male, by Heleieth Saffioti as representative of the 1980s, Scenes and Complaints, by Maria Filomena Gregory; representative of the 1990s; Femicídio, by Suely Almeida e, Gender and Violence, organized by Maria de Fátima Araújo and Olga Mattioli, both representative of the 2000s. And finally, Domestic and Family Violence against Women, organized by the Patrícia Galvão Institute, closing the decade. 2010. Data analysis showed that the problem of domestic violence, despite being emphatically addressed by specialized literature since the 1980s, is still something unknown to women and has not yet managed to make a significant change in the behavior of Brazilian society, given the increasing rates of domestic violence against women in Brazil.
