Os valores da variação linguística subjacentes aos discursos em A Língua de Eulália, de Marcos Bagno, aplicáveis ao ensino básico.

Abstract

Every discourse is loaded with meaning, and who utters them does not necessarily need to know or apply the correct language standard. In this direction, this research aims to analyze how the values of linguistic variation underlying the discourses of the actors in A Língua de Eulália, by Marcos Bagno, are presented. To achieve this goal, we discuss the basic concepts of Discourse Semiotics and Variationist Sociolinguistics, describe the values of linguistic variation that underlie the discourses of the actors in A Língua de Eulália, by Marcos Bagno, and reflect on the treatment of linguistic variation in the classroom in line with the Base Nacional Comum Curricular – BNCC (BRASIL, 2018). The research is based on the Discourse Semiotics of Greimas (2008), considering scholars of this theory such as Barros (2005) and Fiorin (2018). We searched Saussure (2021) and Hjelmslev (1975) regarding the linguistic sign; Monteiro (2008), Bagno (2007) and Coelho et al., (2019) regarding Variationist Sociolinguistics. The methodology of this research is situated in Discourse Analysis, being the approach qualitative and the nature applied. For the selection of the corpus, the works of the linguist Marcos Bagno, which deal with linguistic variation, were considered, among which we chose A Língua de Eulália. The results proved the thesis that the analyzed corpus conveys both the idea of respect and disrespect for linguistic variation, through formal and informal discourses of the actors.
