Abstract:
Anticonvulsive drugs are common in medical practice, especially in the pediatric age
group. It is a group of medication that stands out not only for the wide variety but also
for the large number of adverse effects that may arrive with its use. In epilepsy the
indication of such a prescription is well established, however, confirming this
diagnosis is still a challenge. We present a research that seeks to know the clinical
and epidemiological characteristics of drug users in order to subsidize
pharmacotherapeutic adjustments and, in the future, the implementation of a
therapeutic monitoring program by laboratory dosage with clinical correlations of the
prescribed drugs. Focusing on the use of phenobarbital and its possible implications,
mainly because in our country it is the drug most used by several factors, especially
with regard to costs and access in the Unique Health System. Draw a profile of the
users of these medications is remarkable, because besides stamping our closest
reality, it offers us questions and tools so that we can deliver a better quality
assistance at anticonvulsant pharmacotherapy.
