Resumen:
The present research aims to analyze the narrative and transformations present in the series of
video games, to understand the relationship between the game "God of War" and Greek
mythology narratives. For this purpose, we have defined the general objective as follows: to
analyze the presence of mythological references in the electronic game "God of War" 2005
as an element used for teaching reading and interpretation. The specific objectives are: to
identify the types of Greek myths present in the electronic game "God of War"; to distinguish
the strategies of inspiration used by the creators of the story in the construction of the
narrative; to highlight practices that can be adopted based on the game in classroom teaching.
The theoretical framework is based on contributions on the origin of myth, from the
perspectives of Eliade (1999), Antunes (2003), and Huizinga (2014), which provide
considerations on gamification and the importance of electronic games. The perspective of
electronic games is approached through the theories of Domingos (2008) and other theoretical
approaches that deal with the subject under analysis. The research methodology used was
qualitative bibliographic research, based on already published materials. As results of this
research, we have the understanding of the strong relationship between the electronic game
"God of War2005" and the narratives of Greek myths, and the development of a teaching
proposal for high school that encompasses the characteristics of the game and the teaching of
the genre: Greek myths.
