Abstract:
The civil construction industry has a significant impact on the Brazilian economy but still needs
improvement in terms of construction methods and factors associated with planning, material
waste rates, improvisation, and failure to meet goals resulting in project delays. This
improvement can be achieved through a simple construction site layout project that is optimized
and organized, focusing on all stages involved in building construction. Therefore, this work
aims to conceptualize an optimized construction site using the principles of Lean Construction
and analyze the layout of real construction sites to diagnose the impacts on the planning and
financial aspects of a residential building during two studied phases: infrastructure and
superstructure. Lean Construction is an adaptation of the Toyota Production System, which has
been gaining more attention recently, with an increasing number of people embracing its
principles and techniques. Thus, this study seeks to contribute to the dissemination of this topic
and provide the construction company with aspects that can be applied to their future planning,
as well as guidance for improving construction site layouts and workforce management.
