Resumen:
It is observed that the biggest challenge, during the development of structural projects, for
a civil engineer is to unite quality with a lower cost in a project of structures, stairs, pillars,
slabs, or beams. Regarding the stairs, they start from a dimensioning process where the
loads present in the straight and inclined sections depend on geometric variables, among
them the stepping and the mirror are the ones that have the most impact. Because of the
above, the objective of this work is to develop an Excel spreadsheet to optimize the
dimensions of a reinforced concrete staircase with parallel flights with an intermediate
landing. The results obtained using the tool in question show that it can be a great help in
the dimensioning of stairs when they meet the minimum requirements defined by the
standard.
