Abstract:
With the range of possibilities offered by the advent of digital media, many engaged and collaborative practices can be observed in the reading and production of current texts, especially
in communities whose main characteristic is interaction, as is the case with fandoms. In it, different literacy practices are performed by its members, and most of them are the product of collective work and knowledge sharing. From this perspective, our main objective was to analyze fandom literacy practices with a focus on the fanfic genre in order to highlight and
discuss their contributions to the development of collaborative reading and writing processes.
As specific purposes, we aim to reflect on the role of Multiliteracies and Participatory Culture in the reading and production of texts, present the fan community, their literacy practices and their contributions to Convergence Culture, as well as analyze the fanfic genre with a focus on aspects of collaborative reading and writing that develop within it. Therefore, we base this
research mainly on the contributions of Rojo (2012; 2013; 2015), Kalantzis, Cope and Pinheiro
(2020), Jenkins (1992; 2006; 2008); Vargas (2015) and Miranda (2009). As an analysis methodology, according to the classification of Prodanov and Freitas (2013), this research is configured as a bibliographical, qualitative approach, of a basic nature and exploratory
character, since in it we seek to describe some of the processes of collaborative reading and production in the community of fans as a way to expand academic knowledge about literacy practices developed within the fandom based on an analysis of collaborative reading and writing strategies observed in the fanfic genre.
