Abstract:
The beginning of academic life brings with it a series of changes for the lives of higher education students. Because it is a time full of new experiences and discoveries, some college students cannot react well to all these changes and this causes the same developing some psychological problem, which can cause a series of impacts on the academic life of it. lead to decreased income, social and biological interaction problems, and the development of risk behaviors. Objective: To analyze the main impacts experienced by higher education students after the beginning of their academic life. Methodology: This is an exploratory integrative review study. The first step was based on the interest in the theme, followed by the elaboration of the guiding question: What are the main mental health problems faced by higher education students and how can they impact their academic career? Continuing, the place where the research was conducted was through the databases VHL, LILACS, MEDLINE and BDENF, were also consulted the websites of the Ministry of Health, World Health Organization (WHO). with studies without time limits. Final considerations: The data analyzed revealed that the beginning of academic life brings with it a series of changes for the life of academics, in the most diverse areas, such as: social, psychological, economic and affective. Being that, many times the entrance in the university makes the students distance themselves from their family, causing even greater psychological sufferings.
