Abstract:
The cervix uteri cancer is a cancer type that plagues the female population and,
according to the National Institute for fighting cancer, is the second most common
tumor and the fourth leading cause of cancer death in women in Brazil. One of the
most effective ways of diagnosing cervical cancer is from cytological screening
test that should be done periodically to increase the chances of cure if a malignant
tumor has been detected. This study aims: to analyze women's knowledge about
the Colon Cancer Uterus; characterize women of childbearing age from 10 to 49
years residing in an area of coverage; identify their knowledge about the Colon
Cancer Uterus and Pap smear. This research is exploratory and documentary,
with a quantitative approach. We used health information available in the records
of the five micro-areas relating to women registered from 13 to 49 years who had
not had a Pap smear test in the 2008-2013 period, in the team II of the BFHU
Wesley Targino in the city of Campina Grande, Paraíba. To the knowledge of the
users, the theme was presented through a brief explanation about the Colo
Cancer Uterus. As an initial approach, it was explained that the search be
performed by a semistructured and possible interview questions were answered.
The data analysis showed that the majority of women had low education, unaware
of the disease and how to avoid it. Among the portion that was in arrears with the
examination, the carelessness factor was the most used justification. This study
goes back to the need to strengthen and upgrade health promotion, with emphasis
on reducing inequalities and stimulating the protagonism of women in prevention
of cervical cancer.
