Abstract:
The main objective of this course completion paper is to investigate, through a broad
bibliography, the precariousness of the teaching work in public higher education, aiming to
highlight the effects of mental illness of teachers between the years 2020 and 2023, a period that corresponds to the time frame of the pandemic, since the processes arising from the current work relations have intensified the physical and mental wear of workers, and with the pandemic of COVID-19 these processes have worsened in all spheres of social life. To this end, the qualitative method was used, based on bibliographic reviews, to seek to understand the possible presence of elements that propitiate the development of mental illness in the workplace and thus contribute to the debate about the illness of workers in times of pandemic, reaching the proposed objectives. As a result, it was found that the vast theoretical production on the subject indicates a link between mental illness and working conditions, a process that is accentuated during the pandemic (2020-2023). The urgent need for mitigation policies is evident, but it is also essential to overcome the order of the causative agent of this barbarism.
