Resumo:

years.
Risk factors for the development of abdominal wall hernias are: history of previous
hernia ; advanced age; male; Caucasian race ; chronic cough ; chronic
constipation ; abdominal wall injuries; smoking; family history of hernia and obesity.
The treatment of hernias is surgical and depends on the type, location and
complication of hernia. However, there is no consensus on the ideal approach for
hernia repair , as complications after inguinal or femoral hernia surgery are
relatively common. The aim of this course conclusion work is to identify the screen
use in hernia surgery at the University Hospital Alcides Carneiro. For this, we
researched on the main databases for hernias words, screen and Lichteinstein.
They were taken as a basis hernias corrections made in 2015.
