Resumo:
The ageing, considered as a large demographic transition process, rises as a strong
and current theme for discussion in its aspects. The fast growth of the elderly
population is a phenomenon that it is happening in the whole world and, in Brazil, in a
very advanced pace. This research has as main goal to understand the perception of
the elderly towards their access to the specialized health services in the city of
Campina Grande – PB. This was an exploratory study, descriptive with qualitative
approach in which the data was collected through a semi-structured interview in
which the individual directs their speech according to their will inside the proposed
theme. Fifteen elderly registered in the Family’s Health Strategy in six Sanitary
Districts were interviewed where data about gender, age, education, occupation,
income were collected; and about their perception towards to the access to the
specialized health service. According to the results, it was noticed that regarding to
the use of the specialized center most of them (eight users) have affirmed, in a
positive way, to be satisfied with the service in the specialized center. Among the
seven users that did not use the specialized services in SUS, four of them have
preferred using the private services, due to the larger wait list to get the appointment
in the public services, three have affirmed to use the USBF only to get medication
and never have used the SUS’ specialized services. The gathered information about
the accessibility to the specialized health service turn up to be relevant when
identifying the importance of suitability of the health services to the specific needs of
the elderly. Showing the need of a better reorganization of the access to the health
services, so the elder can be fully assisted in the health attention system, what
happens to fulfill the SUS’ doctrinal basis.
