Resumo:
In the relationship between health, study and work, there are countless factors
that reflect the quality of life of medical students. Occupational hazards
and emotional disorders make students vulnerable to physical and mental illness,
especially in hospital units. In this way, assessing the quality of life
of medical students is a way to contribute to improvements in health and
their well-being. Objective: To evaluate the quality of life of students from
Medicine of the first and twelfth period in a comparative way. Method: The
study will be of the analytical, comparative, cross-sectional type, carried out with students from
Medicine of the first and twelfth period of the UFCG-CG. To evaluate the
quality of life, the Medical Outcomes Study 36-item questionnaire will be used
Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). The evaluation will be done through the questionnaire
proposed by Ware Sherbourne (1992). The questions will be grouped into 8 (eight)
domains with standardization of answers. The response values will be
transformed into grades of eight domains ranging from 0 (zero) to 100 (one hundred), where
0 = worst and 100 = best, for each evaluated domain. In the inferential analysis it was
Kolmogorov's test was used to analyze the distribution of numerical variables.
As the variables had a non-normal distribution, the non-normal test was used.
Mann Whitney parametric test for comparison between groups. It was considered
a significance level of 95% (p < 0.05). Result: Participated in the survey
83 academics, 43 from the 1st period, 40 from the 12th period. In the general sample, the smallest
scores were for the emotional aspect and vitality domains and the highest for
functional capacity and absence of pain. Women have a lower perception of
quality life. Students in the 1st period have lower scores for aspect
social life, vitality, physical appearance, while for those in the 12th period they are a general state of
health and vitality. Conclusion: Statistically differences were found
significant for most SF-36 domains when comparing the scores
between course periods. Academics in the 12th period have a better perception of
their quality of life when compared to 1st period students. No
statistically significant differences were found for the state domain
general health.
