Resumo:
The main objective of this article is to verify whether the municipalization of traffic would been effective response to the solution of some problems that permeate the road system in the municipality of Sumé. Therefore, the methodology used was of a qualitative and quantitative nature, focus in gon the collection of data from national registries. In addition to the authors used for the theoretical framework, government websites such as the Ministry of Cities and the Ministry of Infrastructure had their collaboration. Here, weal so delimit some specific objectives, which consist of: analyzing a historical series of 2018-2022, about traffic accidents in the city; evaluate the current context of the municipal road system, based on the historical series; and finally, verify possibilities of municipal integration to the National Traffic System (SNT). Weal so analyzed Law nº 9.503, of September 23, 1997, which establishes the Brazilian Traffic Code, along with a brief analysis of the competences granted to the municipality when it joined the SNT. Once this is done, it is necessary to as certain the possibilities of municipalization that the Sumeense municipality has according to its curren conditions must be verified. Based on the analyses, it is concluded that the municipalization of Sumeense traffic is a viable response to combating security and disorganization of the road system, embracing an open view on the subject.
