Resumo:
It is known that racism in Brazil is characterized as a social problem that is still very latent in the daily life of its population. This social problem is expressed in many ways, thus acquiring contours that can define it as structural, that is, an issue that has been added to culture and has been fought through clarification and awareness. One of the cruelest expressions of racism comprises school evasion. It is estimated that out of 10 students who dropped out, 7 are black. This has been worrying given that education is the main vehicle for social ascension in Brazil. Thus, it is understood that 70 percent of black youth lose this life improvement mechanism, which further aggravates the historical scars of social inequality caused by racial issues. In this work, the role of the sociology teacher is discussed as an agent promoting debates and discussions in the school environment aimed at raising awareness and clarification about racism in Brazil, as well as being responsible for developing teaching methodologies that provide opportunities for discussion on issues Brazilian races. For this, a pedagogical intervention was carried out at the State Elementary and Middle School Irineu Joffily, located in the municipality of Esperança/PB, in which the issue of racism was addressed through the analysis in the classroom of songs by Racionais MC's and strings . In this sense, our research is characterized by being an action-research of a qualitative and exploratory nature, including in its theoretical basis, also, a bibliographical research. This research was based on the concepts and assumptions of Fernandes (1988) and Almeida (2019), on the constitution of racism in Brazil, as well as the works of Gil (2019), Richardson (2019), Zikmunds (2000) and Sá e Lemos (2017), about research methods in the area of sociology. As important results of this work, it is noticed that the action research carried out through, also, the pedagogical intervention in an EJA class, raised in the students the identification with the social contexts presented in the songs of the Racionais MC's and the cordel literature, in the discussion about racism and its aspects, as well as in the understanding of the sociological concept of structural racism. Finally, it is understood that this work presents an important contribution to the debates on anti-racist education, as well as to the discussion about pedagogical strategies in sociology teaching and the insertion of important social concepts in the classroom, especially in EJA classes.
