Resumen:
Objective: to evaluate the experiences and repercussions of COVID-19 from the
perspective of the elderly. Method: Descriptive study with a qualitative approach carried
out in a northeastern city, with the Family Health Units as a field of investigation. The
sample consisted of twelve elderly people with a history of hospitalization for COVID-
19. Data were collected using a sociodemographic form and a semi-structured
interview, whose statements were analyzed using the content analysis method. Results:
Five categories emerged: User satisfaction with care in Medium and High Complexity
services; Physical and psychological impacts of COVID-19 on the lives of the elderly;
The view of the elderly on COVID-19; Prevention measures through own experiences
and influenced by the media and Signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Final
considerations: The involvement by COVID-19 in the elderly person causes
repercussions in the biological, psychological and social spheres, influencing feelings,
attitudes and routines.
