The pandemic of COVID-19 brought several changes in the global scenario and with it,
brought several impacts, especially in health services, being the axis with greater female
representation, since about 70% of the professionals who perform activities against
COVID-19 are represented by women, in this perspective, the pandemic brought impacts
on the lives of these health workers. This study aimed to understand the reality of female
health workers facing work and care in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a
research of qualitative, descriptive and exploratory approach, having as target audience
the health workers of the Basic Health Units of the urban center of the Municipality of
Cuité - PB, the interviews were recorded using a cell phone recorder, all participants read
and signed the Informed Consent Form (ICF), for the analysis of the interviews the
content analysis technique of Bardin (2011) was performed, which provides the phases:
pre-analysis, which consists of the choice of documents and grouping of the investigated
material; exploration of the material, in which the units of register will be separated;
treatment of the results, inference and interpretation. With the analysis of the interviews,
two categories were highlighted: Category I - difficulties experienced in the health work
during the pandemic: production of overload; Category II - difficulties experienced by
health workers in the home environment during the pandemic, this pandemic era brought
difficulties in the lives of health workers, the work overload and moral harassment was
present in the working hours of these women, in addition to domestic chores that were
intensified in the pandemic. Thus, the pandemic revealed how much the female worker
suffered exploitation in the workplace, and the work overload was explicit. Moreover,
she had to deal with all the domestic activities alone, a reality that permeates even in
current times.
