Interfaces entre a logoterapia e a ludicidade: um facilita-dor na oncologia pediátrica.

Abstract

The process of illness, receiving a diagnosis of childhood cancer, and the period of hospitalization can be revealed as a traumatic and disruptive experience, especially for children and adolescents who are called upon to face unfamiliar scenarios and deal with a reality that is different and distant from their routines, which can generate intense unpleasant emotions. Considering the importance of psychological support during the hospitalization of children, this study aims to establish the interface between Logotherapy and playfulness as tools that facilitate the expression of creative, experiential, and attitudinal values, favoring the encounter with the meaning of life for children undergoing cancer treatment. This is a descriptive study in the form of an experiential report, based on experiences during Specific Supervised Internship I and II of the Psychology course at the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), in the pediatric oncology department of the university hospital. The interface between playfulness and the perspective of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis plays a fundamental role in the context of pediatric oncology, aiming to provide support and minimize the suffering caused by illness, highlighting the encounter with meaning through creativity and art (creative values), the experiences lived within the family (experiential values), and the attitudes taken in the face of tragic and inevitable situations (attitudinal values). The report presents the playful interventions carried out in the hospital environment, taking into account the specific needs of each child. The role of psychology professionals in promoting playfulness to enhance well-being and quality of life during treatment was emphasized. The provision of playful resources provided children with new ways of perceiving illness, embracing their experiences, and fostering the search for meaning in the face of hospitalization.
