Resumo:
Water is the central element for the existence of life, therefore, it needs special care in
relation to its quality and availability, since, although it is an abundant natural resource,
depending on the place and time of year, it can it becomes scarce. One of the viable
alternatives to face this problem has been the use of groundwater, through the drilling
of artesian wells, however, there is little information regarding the quality of these
waters consumed by the population. The objective of this work is to determine some
physical-chemical properties of water supply from different sources of water from
fountains in the Municipality of Jaçanã-RN, observing some parameters such as
turbidity, electrical conductivity, hardness, alkalinity, pH, total dissolved solids,
identification of sodium and potassium, chloride content. After carrying out the studies
of the analyzed samples, it was possible to observe that not all the water from the
fountains used by the population of the Municipality of Jaçanã-RN are suitable for
human consumption, as determined by Ordinance GM/MS No. 888, of May 4 of 2021
of the Ministry of Health, thus making the use of a natural adsorbent passion fruit flour
feasible in an attempt to adapt these waters to what the Ministry of Health determines
with the current ordinance in force of the Ministry of Health. The adsorbent used proved
to be efficient in the sample treatment process as it reduced the values of some studied
parameters such as total hardness, sodium and chloride content, but for the turbidity
parameter there was a significant increase in all analyzed samples.
