Abstract:
In this work, properties of ABS/mica composites were studied. The
influence of filler size and the chemical treatment was evaluated. The
physical, thermal, mechanical and electrical behaviour were analised, and
properties like impact strength, hardness, melt flow index, tensile and flexural
módulos, elongation, dieletric strength, loss tangent and dielectrical constant
care avaluated.
The results showed that the mica incorporated to the matrix gave to
composites good flowability and dimensional stability, but bad dispersion, (at
low levels of filler). The microstructure showed interstitial holes, that gave a
littler area of matrix-filler interface, giving as consequence poor mechanical
properties.
