Resumo:
The forage palm was introduced in Brazil, which spread in the Brazilian Northeast and
adapted to the semi-arid climate, because, even being implanted in regions of water deficit, its
development is not affected, arousing greater interest of rural producers to be cultivated in
their areas. and be introduced into animal feed. This research aimed to evaluate the
productivity of cactus pear species Nopalea cochenillifera, Opuntia stricta and Nopalea sp.
grown in the soil cultivation system comparing it to the conventional system in the dry
season, compare the numbers of cladodes between the systems. The experiment was
conducted in Jaçanã, Rio Grande do Norte. It was carried out in an experimental area from
January 8, 2022 to June 8, 2022. The experimental design adopted was complete randomized
blocks in a 3 x 2 factorial scheme, consisting of three varieties of palms, and the cultivation
system . Regarding productivity, the soil cultivation system provided significant results,
especially for the Opuntia stricta variety, which stood out over those of the genus Nopalea,
even when implanted in a period of water deficit. It can be seen that the cladode area is an
important aspect to be evaluated and that the species Opuntia stricta was the one that stood
out the most due to the size and number of cladodes. It was observed during the research that
there was no overturning of the matrix cladode in the overground and conventional systems.
