Resumo:
The improvement of grain generates large amounts of waste, causing environmental problems due to bad
storage of the product in the environment. This study was conducted to evaluate the mechanical
performance of mortars with percentage of ash of rice hulls as a replacement of part of the binding agent.
Laboratory tests were conducted to characterize physically, chemically and mineralogical the raw material
alternative. To evaluate the performance of these mortars were made bodies of evidence in alternative and
conventional mortar 1:4 and 1:6 lines embedded with levels of 3%, 6% and 9% ash of rice hulls to replace the binding agent with periods healing, 28, 63, 91, 180 and 360 days. The physical-mechanical properties
determined were: water absorption, apparent density, strength and loss of mass. The results of tests for
characterization of conventional raw materials (cement and aggregate kid) and alternative (gray shell of rice)
are within the standards established by the rules of ABNT, indicating specific surface index and fineness of
the ash bark of and rice than the cement used. The results showed that the ash of rice husk is predominantly
amorphous and has high pozzolanic power in accordance with the specifications of ABNT, allowing its use in
concrete and mortar for their characteristics of high fineness. Contudo pode-se considerar este material
tecnicamente viável, uma vez que não apresentou resultados inferiores aos esperados, sendo também uma
forma ecologicamente correta de utilizar este resíduo.
