Abstract:
The objective of the present research is to analyze the influence of the salinity of the water in the
plasticity of masses used in the production of ceramic blocks. The plasticity was determined by the
method of Casagrande and it was utilized an industrial mass and chloride of sodium,to the development
of the study. The methodology adopted consists in the improvement of the mass, followed by the
physical characterization through the size analysis and the plasticity characteristics through the method
of Casagrande, where three types of water will be used: distilled water, fresh water and water with
chloride of sodium. The results of the plasticity rehearsals evidence that the use of water with high
content of salts influences the rheological behavior of the mass, resulting in significant alterations of the
material processing characteristics.
