The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of temperature and pressure on rheological, filtration and
lubricity properties of the water based drilling fluids. Eight formulations were selected from preliminary
studies conducted by Farias (2008). The fluids were prepared according to the field practice that is to add
the additives to the water one by one under constant agitation. After 16h of aging in a roller over in
temperatures of 100°F (37,8°C), 150°F (65,6°C) e 200°F (93,3°C), the study of rheological behavior and
filtration and lubricity properties were determined. The results show that with aging the fluids, there are a
reduction in the values of apparent and plastic viscosities and the field limit, and a large increase in values of
the water loss and significant reductions in values of lubricity coefficient when compared with the fluid
environment temperature.
