Resumo:
Metal profiles are structural elements that seek to ensure greater strength and
lightness to structures. These have several advantages over other structural elements,
having as main differentials the geometry of the section and the mechanical properties
of the steel that constitute them. The industrial sector presents a wide range of profiles,
as well as materials with distinct properties, which makes infinite the number of
possible combinations to be established the ideal profile. The present work aims to
develop a computational tool for the selection of rolled I profiles analyzing different
types of structural steel, through parameters established by the Brazilian Association
of Technical Standards through the NBR 8800:2008 and NBR 6650:1986 standards.
To this end, with the help of Microsoft Excel software and the use of Visual Basic, an
algorithm is created that seeks the best profile by comparing the weight per linear
meter and the efficiency of all the profiles that meet your load requests. To this end, a
computational routine is developed with the geometric properties of the different
sections present in the Gerdau profile catalog, the mechanical characteristics of the
steel and the loads requesting the project, as well as their verifications through
analytical calculations. After the construction of the model, this work could be validated
through the application in a case study of the academic literature, which corroborated
the choice of the beam using the proposed method.
