Resumen:
The rapid growth and expansion of cities in Brazil, as well as the lack or inadequacy of urban planning, has triggered a set of urban mobility problems in recent years. The reflection of this panorama is the streets of the cities completely saturated and with serious traffic problems. The municipality of Patos-PB, in turn, is in constant development and presents an urban mobility crisis in several sectors of its region, with an increase in traffic accidents in the city's streets and avenues due to the factors of the high fleet of vehicles, decrease in traffic flow and absence of urban mobility plans. The implementation of torque, in this direction, can be given as an operational solution, with the objective of guaranteeing better circulation conditions (fluidity, safety and even facilities for parking). Based on the above, one of the solutions highlighted to mitigate the problem was the implementation of the binary system on Rua Alfredo Lustosa Cabral and Rua Manoel Torres, located in the municipality of Patos-PB. In this way, this work aims to evaluate the proposed traffic project that promotes, in an inexpensive way, solutions to the recurrent traffic problems in the aforementioned streets. The methodology was carried out through a general study of the area in question with observations in loco of the current conflicts and movements, initially by the geographic part, with the analysis of certain streets and, later, with the characterization of the road network through volumetric counts of vehicles manually and historical recovery of traffic accidents with victims that occurred in the area. After analyzing the conflicts of traffic movements and registered traffic accidents, entailing a potential risk of accidents in the area in question, the implementation of the Binary System Project was proposed with the intention of ordering the vehicles in order to allow a flow with greater fluidity and organization of traffic in the region (by means of Horizontal and Vertical Signaling, and rearrangement of the road network).
