Abstract:
Love and affection are extremely important in learning, as they are fundamental
to children's emotional, social and cognitive development. Using the book The
Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry as an intellectual intermediary and
consulting some philosophers who have great contribution to education, this work
begins, which will be a theoretical essay in the form of an imaginary dialogue with
the protagonist of the work cited, aiming to perceive the importance of love and
affection in the learning process and its relationship with the message of the book
addressed. Throughout the prose, it is emphasized that teachers need to be
sensitive to the emotional needs of their students and that adults are generally
not interested in the essential, focusing only on measurable results. It is pointed
out that when a teacher establishes a relationship of trust and affection with their
students, it is possible to achieve more meaningful learning and consequently, it
is understood that the journey of learning is not only about acquiring knowledge,
but also about cultivating emotional connections with what we learn and how we
apply that knowledge in our lives, as this affective bond shapes students and
contributes to knowledge about oneself and the world.
