Abstract:
This work is the result of a research whose objective was to implement and develop a
pedagogical intervention in Sociology classes in high school. Thinking of the student as an
autonomous subject, and in the tendency to enable reflections on their daily life, aiming to
indicate transformations in their realities or to minimize oppression, the proposal of the Theater of the Oppressed (TO) elaborated by Augusto Boal (1931-2009) was used as prone pedagogical tool. From the pedagogical intervention carried out at Escola Estadual Jardim das Flores in the municipality of Matupá -MT, I tried to understand in what ways the TO method corroborates in the educational process of the contents of the discipline of Sociology, such as: Ideologies, Social Inequalities, Racism, Genders , Sexualities, among others. On the other hand, I proposed to the students: an exercise of reflection about their daily lives, the unfolding of their autonomy and the development of critical thinking. In this sense, the use of TO, through its methodology, promotes educational practices that can stimulate the understanding of different social phenomena, making it possible to estrange and denaturalize them based on critical thinking in the face of realities.
