Resumen:
This work aimed to determine a new parameter for the radar equation, the current equation is
based on the parameters of Marshall-Palmer and serves to determine the amount of rainfall based on
data measured by radar. However, when this amount of rainfall was compared with the measurement
of ombrometer, it was noted a disparity between the measures and therefore was understanded the
need to adjust the radar equation for a new parameter that includes a result closer to the real amount
of rain. The new parameter was determined through a very simple reverse process, using data from a
precipitation occurred in 2001, to ensure the effectiveness of the new parameter. It was found that
there was a decrease of the difference between the curves representing the amount of rainfall
measured by radar and by ombrometer measure, ie the gap was reduced from satisfactory mode. It
was also found that the model proposed by Paz fitted well to data of events of precipitção January
2001, may also be used for any other data of precipitation.
