Abstract

Tha main goal of this study is to compare two cumulus parameterization schemes, namely the Kuo (1974) and the Grell (Grell and Dévényi, 2002) scheme, in simulating an extreme rainy event that occurred at Maceio – AL around 31 July 2000. The simulation using the Grell scheme produced better results since the details of the simulated system were better reproduced. Moreover, this configuration reproduced the thermodynamic and the ambient features more accurately.
