Resumo:
The control of aflatoxin in peanut seeds inoculated and not inoculated with Aspergillus flavus, stored in
pet and polyethylene packagings, through the treatment with water extracts of neem. The design used
was the entirely randomized following the factoria scheme. The identification and quantification of
aflatoxin were performed by thin-layer chromatography (TLC). The detection limit for aflaxina B1 was
1.94 μg kg-1. The values obtained in the recovery of aflatoxin were from 87.67 to 109.57%,
respectively for seeds inoculated and not inoculated with Aspergillus flavus and its CV from 3.986 to
6.67%, accordingly. The presence of aflatoxin above the allowed by the Brazilian legislation for
marketing of peanuts (20 μg kg-1) was made with the seeds inoculated with Aspergillus flavus treated
with neem extract at 70%. Seeds treated with the extract of neem, subject to the packaging of pet
before storage and inoculated with Aspergillus flavus showed aflatoxin, the opposite took place with
the packaging of braided polyethylene.
