Resumen:
An experiment was conducted in greenhouse of the National Center of Cotton Research (Embrapa –
CNPA), aiming to verify the effect of four substrates (coarse sand, vermiculite, sand loam soil, wood
shavings), on the germination of normal and abnormal seedlings of the physic nut (Jatropha curcas L.).
The completely randomized experimental design was adopted, with four replications. The germination was
significantly influenced by the substrates, up to 20 days after the sowing. Vermiculite favored higher
percentage of germination of normal seedlings, while the sand loam soil proportioned higher germination of
abnormal seedlings.
