Resumo:
The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of digital images CBRES-2B (HRC) in the study of
the drainage network of semi-arid, upon selection of 3rd order watershed and the grouping of
geometric similarity, as a methodology to infer the existence of different soils units. The study area
comprises the Jatobá dam which supplies Patos city. Scanned topographic map of the study area
(1:100000) was used as the base map. Using the IDRISI ANDES, digital enhancement was applied on
image for mapping the drainage network directly on screen and performs the linear measures. The
area and perimeter were measured with the aid of CAD. The results show that the methodology was
satisfactory for determining the drainage network as a whole and the delineation of 3rd order
watershed, whereas the geometric similarity analysis allowed grouping basins with different relative
positions in the area that may indicate the presence of different units of soil.
