Resumo:
The work discusses the theme motherhood in academic life, and includes, as an object of study, the difficulties of student mothers of the Pedagogy course at the Teacher Training Center (CFP/UFCG). The general objective of the work corresponded to investigating the main problems that student mothers face when reconciling studies and motherhood during academic training. As specific objectives, the work intended to dialogue with the authors who approach the theme and the object of study; know the rules and laws that the University holds about maternity; and, analyze the data obtained from the research. Given the somewhat unprecedented nature of the object of study, as well as the defined objectives, the research is defined as exploratory, supported by a bibliographical review and documentary research aimed at problematizing and discussing the categories “motherhood”, “gender” and “academic life”, as well as analysis of data collected with the application of questionnaires. The monographic text is structured in: Introduction, 2 (two) Chapters and Final Considerations. In the introduction, the general lines of the work are presented. In the second chapter, the historical-social, biological and academic contexts involving women and motherhood. In chapter three, the study discusses the methodology used to guide and achieve the objective of the research, which is part of a qualitative approach, through questionnaires applied to a sample of students and teachers, as well as contemplates the analysis of results obtained. In the Final Considerations, by recognizing the existing difficulties of student mothers in reconciling motherhood and studies during the Pedagogy course (CFP/UFCG), the text envisions some proposals that could collaborate to minimize the identified problems.
